Introducing the Pieces qGPT RAG Copilot: Pieces for Developers Obsidian Plugin 1.1.0

The Pieces for Developers plugin team is excited to release of Pieces for Obsidian plugin v1.1.0. This plugin is jam-packed with multiple new features, including our advanced and well received qGPT RAG model. You can contribute to the full discussion about this release on Reddit.

Pieces qGPT RAG Copilot

The Pieces Copilot is definitely our most hyped feature yet. This Copilot is capable of using the contents of a user’s vault as a context engine for an AI chatbot experience that is unreachable with a more traditional approach such as ChatGPT— it’s like querying your brain with plain text.

Any information that you have in Obsidian is reachable by the chatbot, and whenever it can gain context on a specific file, it will even link you to the file that it used. No more rifling through your vault to find a specific file; just let the AI do it for you!

Chatting with Pieces Copilot in Obsidian.

We know that your Obsidian vault is private, so we want to discuss Pieces’ commitment to privacy. With the current implementation of the Copilot, the only data sent over the internet is the bare minimum context that the chatbot needs in order to answer the user’s question. Future enhancements for this feature will include a ‘context selection’ menu which will allow you to choose exactly what files you’re comfortable providing as context.

Real-time Streaming

This update also comes with real-time streaming between the Pieces for Developers Suite. Whenever a change is made to your Pieces repository from another integration, such as the Pieces Desktop App, the change will be automatically reflected by your Pieces for Obsidian plugin. This is a subtle yet useful enhancement and we are glad to have implemented this at such an early stage in the plugin’s lifecycle.

Embedded Enrich button

We’ve also adjusted the embedded button that appears in your Markdown code blocks. In order to decrease clutter, we changed the button to be a single button that opens an expandable menu.

But that’s not all! We also added an ‘enrich’ feature that will allow a user to quickly add a description and title to their code blocks in Obsidian.

We’re thrilled that Pieces for Obsidian is growing quickly (up to nearly 600 downloads at the time of writing!), and we’re absolutely fired up to continue building groundbreaking features for the Obsidian community.
