Pieces finished 2023 with remarkable growth and ground-breaking new features across the entire Pieces for Developers Suite. We’re hitting the ground running in 2024 so that we can continue to help you reduce context switching, improve efficiency, and revolutionize your workflow.
Our first release of the year includes support for new Pieces Copilot runtimes, better search experiences, the ability to easily give us feedback on the updates you’d like to see, bug fixes, and more accessible Support. Check it out!
To start, we are excited to introduce our new community-driven support process! We have recently created a public Github repo where you can create issues to get assistance from us and other users, as well as join in on discussions to request features, show off something you’ve done lately with Pieces, and generally engage with us and the rest of the Pieces community.
Don’t worry— you can still reach out to us for individual assistance by filling out this quick form. Don’t forget to check out our extensive documentation as well!
You can now leverage the power of Google's Gemini LLM in your Pieces Copilot chats! Gemini can elevate your coding to new heights with enhanced language capabilities, ensuring a more intelligent and dynamic conversation experience within Pieces.
To access Gemini, navigate to “Manage Copilot Runtime” from the Pieces Copilot view, and then select “Gemini” from the list of available cloud LLMs.
We’ll continue to add support for LLMs and even support for using your own LLM to power Pieces Copilot.
One of our first-principles when building Pieces is that we want to automatically capture as much context as possible so that you never have to wonder where a snippet came from, how to use it, or how it relates to your project. We now automatically generate tags, related links, related people, suggested searches, and more— and we want to give you more control over the amount of metadata we generate.
From the Desktop App settings, you can choose between No enriched metadata, Basic (which will generate a lower level of metadata), and Advanced (which will generate more metadata).
With all that metadata, you can get search results that match on tags, contents, titles, annotations, and other text. In this release, we’re introducing Quick Filters, a feature designed to expedite and simplify the process of locating specific snippets. You can filter your search results based on snippet titles, annotations, and the code values themselves.
As the Pieces community grows and the product gets more advanced, we want to make sure that you can get easy access to support and helpful resources. Check out the new Help Menu, first available on macOS!
From this menu, you can get support, access our documentation, or join our community. Assistance is just a click away.
Help shape the future of Pieces! Share your feedback on existing and upcoming features using the new Like/Dislike Feedback Buttons in the Updates & Upcoming view.
As always, this release includes fixes for a number of pesky bugs. A few of the most notable:
Did you know Pieces has recently broken into the Open Source community? We recently launched support for our TypeScript SDK on NPM where developers around the world have started to build on top of the Pieces Platform and get familiar with our APIs.
With our SDKs, you can build your own apps, extend Pieces functionality, and so much more. Check out our GitHub to learn more about our Open Source initiatives and how you can start contributing today!
